The host of Plan B Fm’s family, relationship, and lifestyle show dubbed NYANSAPO FIE, Rev, Dr. Francis Asenso has said that there are positive aspects in anger that sometimes help us to decide positively in our daily lives.
Rev, Asenso explained that anger has played an important evolutionary role in ensuring survival.
Our primary “fight” response stems from anger which at times motivates us to vigilantly detect threats and sharpens our focus, our anger is automatically activated and drives us to defend ourselves, sometimes quickly and forcefully, and provides the aggression needed to overcome a stronger attacker and he quoted Ephesians chapter 4 vs 26-27 that says ” be angry but sin not”. and James chapter 1 vs 19 “Be hasty to listen but slow to wrath”.
He stressed that anger is associated with what’s called approach-related motivation.
He asserted that two basic motivational forces underline all behavior—the impulse to approach or move toward something desired, and the impulse to withdraw or move away from unpleasantness. Approach motivation comprises emotions, cognitions, and actions that are driven by the wish to achieve desirable results.
