The Tema Metropolitan director of the National Commission of Civic Education NCCE Mrs. Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu accompanied by Tema West NCCE director Mr. Fidel Bortey has said that their offices are under-resourced.
She said the situation has affected their operations to reach out to more citizens to educate them on government policies.
Mrs. Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu stressed that the NCCE has 29 districts in the Greater Accra region but has only 6 vehicles for official duties and only 2 cinema vans for the whole country for outdoor and public education across the country.
She revealed this on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM on Friday 24th March 2023.
She explained that lack of logistics has crippled them as a commission to execute their function properly and their budgetary allocation which is supposed to hit their account quarterly does not come on time to be used appropriately.
She furthur stated that, sometimes her outfit depends on benevolence from individuals and co-operate organizations for their activities.
“There is no vehicle for Tema Metro NCCE as of now, the metro was given one vehicle during the covid-19 outbreak but was taken back after the sensitization of covid 19, the government gave NCCE 50 vehicles but during the election, 2020 government took it back from the NCCE and subsequently returned 25, not all the districts get their vehicles back even those who get theirs how to fuel and maintain them is a burden”

Mr. Fidel Bortey shares the same problems with the Tema Metro, according to him they lack office space for operations, no computers to work, etc.
“I use my pocket money to fuel my motorbike and use my laptop to work every day and it is not helpful”.
They appealed to the government to make available enough logistics and fast disbursement of resources to the commission to enhance the smoothness and effectiveness of their work.
