Mr. Quartey also added that, after extensive engagement with key stakeholders, they have come to resolved on a centralized Independence anniversary Regional Day celebration to be held at the Tema Sports Stadium.

“The Greater Accra Regional  Independence Day celebration will encapsulate the participation of 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra. Some of the members of Council of state and all members of Parliament, MMDCEs and contingents across all MMDAs will be participating in this centralized Regional celebration” he said

The Regional Minister also outlined some major activities to be held in the Tema Metropolis as part of the Independence Day anniversary

“Some activities culminating into this year’s Independence celebration include an extensive ‘Operation Clean Your Frontage’ sanitation enforcement and clean up excessive, Free health screen and NHIS registration, Inter-MMDAs quiz (JHS level), anniversary indoor games, an anniversary boxing bout and anniversary football match” he stated.

He cautioned that about 500 task force members would be deployed to enforce the bye-law on the operation clean your frontage, stressing that those who refuse to join would be issued with a summon.
