Education Think Tank, Africa Education Watch has urged the West African Examination Council (WAEC), to stop recruiting staff of the Ghana Education Service to supervise examination Centres and solely use external supervisors for the WASSCE exams.
Speaking during it launch of the 2022 WASCCE report, Program officer for Eduwatch, Kwasi Nimo Junior said their findings reveal that, centres where external supervisors were few, the incident of examination malpractice were high.
According to him, this is problematic as the country strives against examination malpractices
“WAEC must end the use of GES staff as supervisors and use external agencies to supervise the WASCCE. This is because, GES staff can’t be made to supervise their own students with their interest for the students to obviously pass to enhance their KPIs” he indicated
Investigation, conducted in the Ashanti and Bono regions of the country before and during the conduct of the 2021 WASSCE for School Candidates, revealed that some schools had instituted special levies which they charge students in return for help to solve examination questions.
