One person has been seriously injured after a vehicle veered off the Fijai-Effia highway to strike a billboard.

A Nissan pick-up truck with registration number GT-1954 T branded with International Anti-Leprosy Organisation about 9:00 am on Wednesday, October 26, coming from Fijai direction to Effia carrying sand lost control.

The driver of the vehicle speaking to Skyy News indicated that, upon realising that he has lost control of the vehicle, veered off the highway to strike a billboard beside the road because he didn’t want to collide with incoming vehicles.

However, one person was seriously injured in the process as he got hit by the billboard which collapsed upon the collision.

The victim was later sent to the hospital with the driver.
