The Ghana Police Service is reporting that they have arrested the chief of Sefwi Elubo and his brother for their involvement in illegal mining. According to them they had received several intel about illegal mining in certain compounds in the area. Many natives have had to run from their houses as the illegal miners raided and mined in compounds.

The Chief, Nana Anini Baffour and his brother Kwadwo Affi upon a tip off were arrested and the police discovered dug-out pits in the compound leading to the bedroom of the chief’s brother. Other pits were also found in the compound. The Police noted that six other miners are on the run as the police probe further to get more information.

The Police in the Western Region have waged an intensive investigation to arrest illegal miners who are scattered all around the region. The police have assured the residents in the area that they will work to bring all those involved to justice. The issue of galamsey have become topical after the reemergence of Aisha Huang, popularly called the galamsey queen. Ghanaians are baffled as to how she was able to escape from the country and how she resurfaced and managed to live in the country without the Immigration Service knowing.
