The Ghana Police Service has issued a strong warning that it will not hesitate to sack any police officer found taking bribes.

According to the Police Service, officers found engaging in any form of unlawful acts will be dismissed instantly in accordance with the law.

Police

The warning comes days after a fresh report released by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) ranked the Ghana Police Service as the most perceived corrupt public institution followed by the presidency.

Director General of CID, COP Isaac Ken Yeboah who issued the warning said the police administration is keen to weed out corruption and its traits within the Service.

He was speaking today in Accra during the passing out of 847 newly recruited police officers.

He said, ” the police administration is taking pragmatic steps to weed out miscreants and criminals masquerading in police uniforms from the police service to restore our reputation and good image”.

He noted that ” the police administration will not entertain any act of bribery, extortion, corruptible activities and worst of all police personnel involved in violent crimes such as robbery.

He told the new recruit that the Service will reject them “if you desire instant gratifications”.
