300 Houses In Waterways To Be Demolished At Tse Addo – Accra

300 Houses In Waterways To Be Demolished At Tse Addo – Accra
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The nation’s capital, Accra, has become so flood-prone that it is as if even when a bucket of water pours, some areas get flooded.

The early morning rains of today 5th July 2022, saw almost the entire capital city submerged under water. One of the most affected areas was Tse Addo in La.

News coming from TV3 indicates that city authorities are planning on demolishing over 300 houses located in Tse Addo which have been built on waterways. The exercise is expected to ease the flooding situation in the area.

The news has been met with mixed reactions of blame game.

Many people are of the view that city authorities are to blame for the perennial floods in the city. Their reasons being mainly because city authorities are in charge of giving building permits as well as stopping people without permits from building.

On the other hand, a few blamed the building owners for building at places considered as waterways or too close to drainage systems.

Some people also believe the Tse Addo problem is not about layout or choked gutters, it’s about a waterlogged land that has channels leading into the kpeshie lagoon and some streams within the Teshie-Nungua area. These people believe the flood won’t stop anytime soon because the Kpeshie is angry.
