Accra: Tipper Truck Drivers Announce New Prices For Sand, Gravels And Chippings

Accra: Tipper Truck Drivers Announce New Prices For Sand, Gravels And Chippings
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ghana National Tipper Truck Drivers Union has announced new price sets for trip of sand, gravels and chippings for building and construction effective this month of June.

The GNTTDU is the umbrella body of all tipper truck drivers in Ghana covering all the 16 regions of the country with regional and town branches.

The Nma Dzorn Ashaley Botwe branch which serves areas such as East Legon, East Legon hills, Spintex, Madina, Santeo, Amrahia will now be charging between Ghc2,000 and Ghc 2,200 for a trip of sand.

For a trip of gravel, they will now be charging between Ghc900 and Ghc1,300 per trip. However, for stone chippings, the price is higher. Depending on the location, they will be charging between Ghc2,500 and Ghc3,000 per trip of stone chippings.

River sand for East legon will be going for Ghc2,600 while Spintex builders will pay Ghc2,700.

The new pricing, which is more than 15 percent increase on the old prices were believed to have been necessitated by the rise in fuel prices and spare parts affected by the depreciation of the Cedi.

In the Eastern Region, Tipper truck drivers effected the increases earlier in May while Greater Accra just followed suit.
