Gov’t Urge To Reduce Some Tax Levies Imposed On SMEs- Geoffrey Ocansey

Executive Director for Revenue Mobilisation Africa, Geoffrey Ocansey has reiterated the need for the government to reduce some tax levies imposed on businesses especially Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, and SMEs.

Speaking on Plan B Fm’s Ebanoosen hosted by Bohyeba Afriyie Mr. Ocansey said ”these tax cuts will lessen the burden on businesses so they are able to serve all their customers”

Mr. Ocansey urged the Ghan Revenue Authority GRA, to streamline the format used in taxing SMEs to make it ”more flexible and comprehensible”.

He also said looking at the pandemic and the economic crisis which is affecting SMES the Government must put measures in place to help stabilize them and the best way is to cut of some taxes.

He concluded by calling on the GRA and other stakeholders to find a more efficient way in sensitising the public, especially the informal sector on tax obligations.
