Dawn Downpour Flood Part Of Accra

Several hours of heavy rain during the dawn of Saturday, May 14, 2022 has seen most part of the Greater Accra region flooded.

Most part of Tema especially Community 25 and its environs have seen serious floods with most of the residents struggling to get out of their homes to safety. The area’s roads were also not spared as most parts of them were covered in flood which made commuting in that area difficult.

Several parts of Accra also experienced part of the rain which lasted for well over four hours. Residents of areas like Kaneshie, Lapaz, Alajo, and Dansoman took to several social media platforms to show how much they are affected by the downpour.

There are reports of similar situation in other areas like Kasoa in the Central region where most of the major roads in that area are flooded. Several vehicles were left by their owners when they realized they could not draw through the floods to their destinations.

Many people this news portal spoke to said even though the Ghana Meteorological Agency had earlier warned of “pockets of rain over Southern part of the country”, they did not take it serious because they had been similar reports earlier which did not happen.
