The youth of Akuapem Asenema in Okere District in the Eastern Region on Tuesday night blocked a section of the Nkurakan to Adukrom Highway over a suspected car snatching incident.
The residents received a distress call Tuesday evening around 9:00pm from other communities along the road that some suspected criminals were bolting with a vehicle towards the Asenema Township.
According to an eyewitness, upon receipt of information, the youth mobilized during the night to block the road with wood, blocks, and other implements to prevent the suspects who were in a private car and taxi from escaping.
A police patrol team from Adukrom swiftly arrived at the scene and arrested the eight (8) suspects blocked by the mob.
A search in the taxi found a slaughtered dog and other undisclosed items.
The suspects were incoherent about where they were going and hence taken to Adukrom police station for further interrogation.
The Adukrom police is however yet to speak to the media.
Asenema came into the news two weeks ago in connection with dawn which occurred at 1:40am at a gas filling station at Akuapem Larteh junction.
Inspector Albert Kuntu Blankson, who was on night duty at Yokwa Gas filling station at Larteh-junction Akuapem, came under attack by three armed robbers at about 1:00am in an attempt to rob the gas filling station.
