Staff Nurses with the Tema Polyclinic, Bernice Asante and Dorathy Dansowaain have advised Ghanaians on what to do to prevent Hypertension.
Speaking on Plan B Fm’s Apomudenfie with Nana Konadu Okontie, they explained Hypertension as a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high.
Usually hypertension is defined as blood pressure above 140/90, and is considered severe if the pressure is above 180/120.
They stated that it mostly Requires a medical diagnosis and often has no symptoms but if Over time is not treated can cause health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke.
They also said that hypertension used to be a condition for the aged but because of the type of food taken in now a days it has resulted some teenagers blood pressure being up to 140 and they have recorded such cases at the Polyclinic.
They Added that it can be managed by good self care like Eating a healthier diet with less salt, exercising regularly and taking
They concluded that medication can help lower blood pressure.
