A 69 years old man by the name of Kwaku Obeng has shot his wife to death at Gyakobu in the Ashanti region. The woman is 44 years old Sophia Akosua Boahemaa and the couple have been together for about 3 years.

According to residents, the couple have been fighting a lot and the woman threatened the man to leave him if the fights continue. This was what got the man angry and he pulled out a gun and shot the woman at their veranda in the afternoon. The couple does not have children together but the woman is said to have 6 children.

The two younger children of the woman live with the couple. Both are farmers and Kwaku Obeng married Sophia to help him with his farming since he was getting old. The Gyakobu Police Commander, Supt Iddrisu said that Kwaku Obeng shot Sophia in the neck and she died on the spot.

The children were in school at that time so the headmaster took them to his home after school closed. The body of the deceased has been taken to St. Peters Hospital mortuary in Gyakobu as investigations continue.
