None of the over two thousand members of the Greater Accra Poultry Farmers Association has received compensation following an outbreak of bird flu that affected their farms sometime in July last year.

This development comes despite the fact that the government in January this year announced a GH¢14 million compensation for farmers whose livestock were affected by the outbreak.

There have been reoccurrences of the outbreak of bird flu since July last year. The situation has led to the destruction of over eleven thousand birds.

However, poultry farmers say they are yet to receive compensation for the outbreak of the disease that hit the country sometime in July 2021.

The Ministry of Agric last year announced the government would compensate affected farmers by partially covering the losses of farmers whose activities have been affected

Mr victor oppong national chairman for the Poultry farmers Association Ghana in an interview with Bohyeba Afriyie on plan B Fm’s Ebaanosen revealed that this is the longest a flu has been in a system and has drastically dealt with farmers.

He disclosed that over 700,000 birds have been lost to the flu and with Ashanti region being the highest.

He also said that he is pleading with the Government to finally disburse the compensation to all farmers who deserve because some farmers lost everything and as a result of that are not able to cater for their family

He concluded that farmers should have patience and also treat the flu with emergency so it aids to curb it spread.
