The Kade Divisional Police Command of the Kwaebibirem Municipal of the Eastern Region has commenced investigations into the death of Rosemary Kua. Rosemary, named after the Kade Kua market, is a descendant of the late Mary Owusu; a long-term serving market Queen-mother and founder of the Kade Kua Market.

Just as her name suggests, Rosemary was named after the market her mother built at Kade and it was with that market, she has been trading her dried fish business until this morning when she was confirmed dead. She was found dead on her bed, the husband, Eric Aboagye said this morning.

Eric, resting in the arms of the Kade Police, is said to have aided his wife in committing suicide. She kept complaining and kept wishing for death to come for her. She suffers every time and the suffering became unbearable last night.

She requested for water after sobering for over three hours (9 to 12 midnight) and that was when I suggested if she wants to take her life. She agreed and I gave her the liquid. I didn’t force her to drink it but she only did because of her condition, Eric narrated in his statement to the police after his arrest this morning.

Eric, from his statement, offered his wife a mixture of rats and cockroaches powder. The powder used for killing rats and cockroaches was what Eric allegedly handed to his wife when her pains became unbearable for her last night.

Rosemary died on her bed after taking the mixture her husband gave her. She died at midnight and Eric announced her death at five o’clock this morning.

Eric at five this morning, called the family of Rosemary to help him convey the body to the mortuary and it was there the family realized Rosemary didn’t die of a natural cause. The family which caused the arrest of Eric, is of the view, Eric forced the drugs on his wife and that made her end her life.

Rosemary was said to have been battling a medical condition; something she saw as spiritual, the husband hinted. Both the family and the husband hasn’t named the condition yet, but rumours outside, suggested she had a wound on her which refused to heal.
