Suspension Of Road Tolls: Roads Minister Must Be Charged For Causing Financial Loss To The State – UGBS Lecturer

Suspension Of Road Tolls: Roads Minister Must Be Charged For Causing Financial Loss To The State – UGBS Lecturer
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Prof. Lord Mensah is calling for the head of the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta for what he describes as a haste suspension of road tolls.

Prof. Lord Mensah is of the opinion that the ministers directive suspending the collection of road tolls last year has caused financial loss to the state which must not go unpunished.

Speaking in an interview monitored by Plan B news,  the finance professor stressed that due the revenues that the country has lost through the actions of the minister, he must either charged and tried at the law court or surcharged.

The lecturer cannot fathom why the E-levy, which is a new policy of government and was supposed to replace the road toll has not been approved by parliament but the minister will rush to suspend the tolls that were already generating revenues for the state.
