Agogo: A Day Old Baby Dumped At Refuse Site Rescued

Agogo: A Day Old Baby Dumped At Refuse Site Rescued
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A newborn-baby boy dumped at a refuse dump at Agogo Bontodease (Newtown) in the Ashanti Region has been rescued by residents in the area.

According to the women who rescued and bathed the baby, the bay was first seen by a scrap dealer who had gone to search for scraps at the refuse dump.

He saw the baby wrapped in a cloth and kept in a sack.

He screamed and called on others who rushed to the scene.

Luckily for them, the baby was still alive but still had the umbilical cord attached to the belly button.

Some women in the community mobilised and bath the baby and took him to a midwife who cut the umbilical cord and advised them to see the baby to the hospital.

The Nursing Administrator at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital where the baby was sent, Mr. Adusei Boahen George said they had information about the incident on Sunday and are currently giving the baby the best of medical care.

He disclosed that the management of the hospital, together with the social welfare, would be working together to find better care for the baby.

He appealed to the public to provide any form of assistance to help them give the baby the best of care.
