Special Prosecutor Commences Probe Into Financial Sector Crisis

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has begun investigations into the banking and financial sector clean up, which led to the collapse of some banks and other financial institutions.

In a statement released today Tuesday January 25, 2022 and signed by the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng, the office said investigations were targeting “alleged corruption and corruption-related offences perpetrated by officials of the Bank of Ghana, banks, specialised deposit-taking institutions and financial holding companies.”

The office further assured that informers, whistleblowers and witnesses will be protected.
