Fire Guts Down Anglican Church In Kumasi, Five People Killed

Gomoa Nyanyano: Block Factory Burned Down By Arsonists
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
In today’s news, Kumasi were shocked to learn that an Anglican church had been damaged by fire earlier this morning.
The church is located in Oduom, a Kumasi neighborhood.

Church service was already in section when this hectic situation happened around 6 o’clock am. As many were injured, some five unidentifiable bodies have been burnt beyond recognition as they got trapped in one office in the building. The fire service, according to an eye witness, was called as the fire started rushing down the building from the tower but they failed to get there in time.

”This church can accommodate a maximum number of 600 members and as the fire ignited and we were shouting from outside telling them to escape, there was fear and panic so the chaos caused inside the building made them confused and running anywhere they see exit. So the exits were chocked and prevented the easy escape of the members.

We thank God, however, that a vast number of them were able to flee, and we pray that the burned bodies may rest in peace.
We contacted the fire department several times before they answered and rushed here, but it was too late to save the trapped inside.

The quenched the fire and retrieved the five bodies from the building but unfortunately they were dead already. We think that maybe the it was an electrical fault that led to the fire but the police are here and doing their investigations”. An eye witness told our press.
