Stop Using The Construction Industry As Political Reward Packages – Chamber Of Construction Industry To Gov’t

Stop Using The Construction Industry As Political Reward Packages – Chamber Of Construction Industry To Gov’t
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Chief Executive Officer for Ghana Chamber Of Construction And Industry Mr. Emmanuel Cherry has called on the government to stop using the construction industry for political gains.

He stated that the industry recorded more positives in 2021 than the previous years

“In the year 2021 the Government  took conscious effort to pay more than half of the constructors they owe , so far they have paid 500-600 constructors whose money falls within 0-1000,000 certificate. The rest are not many but their money is more than a million, looking at measures the ministry of roads and high ways have effected, the remaining hopefully will be paid at the end of this month “

The government of Ghana on the other hand has also performed marvelously well with payment of constructors they owe, they have literally paid all constructors they owe. Our only problem is Get Fund who we are yet to see actions from he stated.

He also said that he is very much aware  that there are some bad nuts amongst them who poorly perform in their field of work but there are also some ‘political constructors’ in their midst he termed as political constructors because they are awarded with construction deals by politicians for their kind gesture towards them when they were in opposition.

He said if these ‘political constructors’ are sieved out then they will work on building the capacity of their members by Reclassifying their certificates.

He concluded that they will make sure their works are recognized in the diaspora as well.
