Case Study
Sakina, 25, was referred to the Sunyani Regional Hospital by doctors at Wamfie on 2 January 2022 when her case became critical. Sekina suffering from injured spinal injuries was raped on 31 December when she was going to church for the crossover night.
According to the police preliminary investigations, Sekina was walking down the Wamfie Methodist Primary School route at 9 PM on 31 December 2021 when the four suspects surrounded her and held her captive for over two hours. They slept with her eight times, and all the four men went two rounds each, Inspector Daniel Acheampong stated after the arrest of the four suspects.
All the suspects have denied raping the victim but investigations from the police, prove the four suspects were the ones behind the attack. Sekina will be able to give a vivid account when she is healthy to talk, but right now, our investigations and the evidence we have, points to the four suspects and that is the cause of our arrest, Inspector Daniel Acheampong hinted.
The police are working on having the four suspects arraigned before a court, and it will be there their fate will be considered whether they should be remanded into police custody or given bail.
