Ama Busia is one of the notable or key members in the ruling New Patriotic Party. She belongs to the Busia faction in the Dankwa-Dombo-Busia tradition of the NPP. She is the biological sister of Kofi Abrefa Busia who once led Ghana as a prime minister.
Ama Busia still looks strong and beautiful at age 85. She is noted for her protest and political criticisms against the Acheampong government. Due to this, she was arrested 7 times. On the 7th arrest, she was detained for 90 days.
Ama Busia lost her father at age 6 and lost her mother at age 13. She suffered in life before becoming successful through education.
The emergence of the Northern People’s Party by Dombo which later joined forces with Darkwa and Busia gave birth to the current New Patriotic Party NPP. During that time, Ama Busia joined the founding members team and placed the then PNDC government on it’s toes.
When the New Patriotic Party NPP won power with John Agyekum Kufuor, Ama Busia was later inducted as a council of state member. As a brilliant political figure and a strong member of the NPP, She once occupied the first and third National vice chairman position of the New Patriotic Party.
