The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei is in the bad books of the youths of her constituency. She is said to have organized a mee4tving with the chiefs and people of the constituency but some of the youths stormed the meeting and asked the MP to leave town as they are tired of her incompetence, neglect and lack of empathy and do not need any further meetings from her but their market reopened, roads fixed and toilet facility completed.
They stated that, at least nine meetings had been held previously but no results have been yielded. They lamented about so many challenges these bad roads are bringing to them and even when she brings contractors to the meeting to assure them and indicate a timeline, these roads seem to be stillborn.
They are quite disappointed in the MP that in her five years of office, they have not seen any commitments or developments and have had enough of the promises because all they need now is action. The leader of the okada riders who led the youth to abort the meeting retorted that, when these facilities are completed and commissioned, then, can she only ask to meet them.
The youth have vowed to not allow her get her way this time around and unless she rises to the occasion and delivers, they would have nothing to do with her.
A similar event occurred at Aboabo where the youth prevented their member of parliament from entering the community. The people attributed this action to the lack of classroom blocks for their children to study and they are made to study under trees.
They revealed an old classroom block which is at the roof level but has been abandoned since 2004. They MP in his quest for power promised to complete the building and made an attempt on it in 2017 but after five years of his administration, the building remains uncompleted.
There have been several protests by the youth of Akuapem North against the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive. The youth of Larteh also protested for their roads to be fixed while the youth of Okorase Domeabra need their bridge to be fixed. All these protests have not been paid any attention to and the youth are embittered by these developments.
