The Juaben Traditional Council has denied claim making round that it compelled some Assembly members in the area to kneel for voting against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of the District Chief Executive for the area.
There were earlier claim that the Assembly members were made to kneel down when they visited the Traditional Council to have some audience with the traditional leadership of the area.
Ghanaians took to social media to express disgust over a picture that has gone viral, with the Assembly members seen kneeling. Most of them wrote various comments under a post of the picture with many questions the authority of the traditional leadership of the area over the decision by the assembly to vote against a nominee.
In a response to the claim, the Registrar of the Juaben Traditional Council, Kwaku Ankoma Asare, stated that it is not true that the Assembly men were asked to kneel and added that it was also not true that any of the Assembly members were forced to apologize for voting against the President’s nominee.
He continued, that there was no way the traditional leadership of the area will know who voted for and who voted against the President’s nominee. He described the claim as ‘vicious lies’ aimed at denting the reputation of the traditional leaders of the area.
