After an 83-year-old woman became ill, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Uzbekistan.

She died, however, shortly after the plane touched down in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The flight left Islamabad, Pakistan, at 00:38 this morning, with a destination of London Heathrow.

The British Airways jet, on the other hand, made an emergency landing over three hours into the journey. “We’re very sorry, this flight scheduled from Islamabad to London has been rerouted to Tashkent,” the BA flight tracker said.

Other passengers have been removed from the plane and are awaiting arrival at Tashkent International Airport. The passenger “felt ill,” according to a Tashkent airport official, and the pilot “took the decision to make an emergency landing in Tashkent.”

“Immediately afterwards, the passenger died,” the unidentified officer continued. “At this time, the airport administration does not know when the necessary documentation will be completed and the aircraft will travel to its destination.”

The British Airways aircraft was reportedly delayed further, according to Uzbek media, due to a “technical difficulty” that arose while the plane was being refueled.

Because the Boeing 777 isn’t regularly seen in Tashkent, a special permit had to be granted for a local expert to repair the pump.
