Ghana Airport Company: Akufo-Addo Appoints Paul Adom-Otchere As Board Chair

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated veteran broadcast journalist Paul Adom Otchere as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited.

The President has also retained the current embattled managing director for the company, Mr. Yaw Kwakwa in a move that has surprised many.

The appointment letter which were dated August 30, 2021 and signed by the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare were sent to the Transport Minister.

A copy of the appointment letter which Tema base Plan-B FM have sighted, has Mr Teye Adjrackor, Mr Kwabena Mantey Nyarko and Madam Philomena Sam as members of the board. Others are Mr Francis Kofi Nunoo, and Grp Cpt Gervase Wienad.

President Akufo-Addo’s appointment comes barely a month after the staff of the company agitated over alleged mismanagement, internal procurement breaches and welfare management issues demanding the removal of Managing Director, Mr Yaw Kwakwa.

According to the workers their locked-up deductions for Staff Welfare, Insurance, Credit union, and SSNIT benefits should be immediately be released to them.

The demand followed a physical assault of a worker by the Managing Director for the company Yaw Kwakwa during a staff meeting over their 13-month arrears.
