Peace Council Is Causing Fear And Panic Over Terror Threat – Security Analyst

Peace Council Is Causing Fear And Panic Over Terror Threat – Security Analyst
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Security analyst, Lord Nana Appiah says the National Peace Council is sending a signal of fear and panic to the people of Ghana over alleged terrorist attacks in Accra and the other Coastal Cities.

The National Peace Council (NPC) has revealed terrorists are aiming to reach Ghana’s capital, Accra, and other Coastal Cities within West Africa.

This was disclosed at a training program organized by the NPC in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to prevent any cross-border terrorist attacks in Ghana.

However, According to Lord Nana Appiah, the reasons and the indicators highlighted by the NPC over a possible terror attack do not hold.

“I have done extensive research and security background on terrorist and their identification and targets. What the NPC highlighted are the indicators [conflict, Land disputes, and minor tribal issues] terrorists feed on to target their targets do exist. But what I do not agree with is the target areas for the terrorist that is Accra and the Coastal areas. If you delve deeper, terrorist have specific reasons before they attack, and all the indicators the NPC have put across is already happening in most countries. Talk of Chieftaincy disputes and minor tribal conflict, which does not pose any terrorist attack” he explained on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ with Bohyeba Afriyie.

He went on to say that the major indicators terrorist feed on to attack a country is political disputes and religious extremism.

“Terrorists don’t care about land disputes in Kasoa, Madina, or Adenta. They target countries that are experiencing political instability and hijack that particular aspect and influence people to operate within that region. So I think what they are revealing could create some form of fear and panic among the populace,” he added.
