Focus On Job Creation For The Youth – Economist To Gov’t

Dr. Lord Mensah, an economist has called on the government to provide more job opportunities for the teeming youth in the country.

Members of the #FixTheCountry movement have expressed displeasure over the government and successive one’s failure to improve the living standards of Ghanaians on social media.

Reacting to the concerns raised by the #FixTheCountry movement and the state of the economy on Plan B FM’s ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ with Ohene Addo, Dr. Lord Mensah said, “the COVID 19 Pandemic has had a significant adverse impact on the economy but that shouldn’t stop the government from creating jobs for the youth and implementing various fiscal measures to mitigate the adverse effect and provide relief for businesses and households”.

According to him one of the surest ways of resolving challenges faced by the Ghanaian youth is to provide them with job opportunities adding that such a situation with help the dealt with their challenges. He pointed out that the future of the country could only get better if the youth are provided with some form of job opportunities.

“The government should have addressed this unemployment issue in its first term as soon as they assumed office. Now, they have allowed the situation to escalate and it is creating a lot of pressure for them. The youth are calling for the country to be fixed, they want jobs,” he added.
