Football fans in Ghana can now heave a sigh of relief as government has given the green light for fans to return to the various stadia in the ongoing football season.
Football fans have been barred from attending matches since March last year due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
The various match venues will only admit 25 per cent of fans with strict compliance to the COVID-19 protocols; this was contained in a statement issued by the Sports Ministry.
In the statement signed by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah, football fans were supposed to resume attendance at the various stadia in October last year however, a spike in COVID-19 cases in October saw Government rescind its decision.
The move is one which will be embraced by Club Owners and Administrators as they continue to incur a lot of costs secondary to games being played behind closed doors.
The 25 per cent admission of fans to the various venues will mean that the Accra Sports Stadium which has been adopted by five Premier League clubs will admit a maximum of 9,500 spectators.
