Legon Cities Announce Bashir Hayford As New Coach

Veteran coach, Bashir Hayford, has been appointed head coach of Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities replacing sacked Coach Goran Bakjataravic, the club announced.

In a statement signed by club Communications Director, Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang and noticed by Plan B FM, The Ghanaian trainer 64, takes charge until the end of the 2020/2021 season.

The former Asante Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs Coach has a herculean task ahead of him to turn the fortunes of the club following a poor run of form to the start of the 2020/21 season which has led to the dismissal of Serbian trainer Goran Bakjataravic.

Hayford last stint was with the Somalia National Football team from March 2019 to February 2020, and cited political and civil unrest in the country as the reason he quit his job.

He guided Asante Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2008 before leading rivals AshantiGold to a first crown in 19 years in 2015.

His last coaching job in the Ghana Premier League was with Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs in 2017, after which he left to take charge of the Ghana women’s national team for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
