President of the Ivorian Football Federation, Augustin Sidy Diallo has died after contracting COVID-19.

The 61-year old tested positive for the coronavirus and has been under quarantine where he was responding to treatment before he was pronounced dead.

The sad demise of Diallo was confirmed by one of his relatives.

Augustin Sidy Diallo was born on June 18, 1959 in Adjamé to Ex-football administrator Abdoulaye Diallo.

Diallo took over FIF presidency in September 2011 and has been at the helm of the Ivorian football federation since.

During his tenure, he guided the Elephants to their second AFCON trophy in 2015.

Diallo’s death leaves a void at the helm of the FIF with general elections yet to be held.
