The Director General (DG) of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Prof Peter Twumasi has disclosed that the four clubs (Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Legon Cities and Great Olympics), who were granted permission to use the Accra Sports Stadium as home grounds for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season should make ready a fixed amount of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis on a per match basis as fee for venue usage.
This was indicated in a statement signed by the DG of the NSA and addressed to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
According to Prof. Twumasi, this move will raise funds for the Sports Authority; some of which will be used in keeping the facility in good shape and also implement fully, all COVID-19 protocols at the state-owned edifice.
Asante Kotoko have joined the list of clubs to use the Accra Sports Stadium for the upcoming Ghana Premier league season due to renovation works currently ongoing at their favorite Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
“We’ve already determined to charge a fixed amount of ₵20,000 per match from each club for using the Accra Sports Stadium. We need to raise money for the upkeep of the Stadium.”
“We need to ensure that the COVID-19 protocols are adhered to. We need sanitizers, nose masks and veronica buckets at the stadium. We need money to to run the facility. We also need health experts and security personnel. All these comes at a huge cost.” Prof Twumasi indicated.
