The leadership of Transport Operators Association of Ghana has announced a 15% transport fare increment.

The increment starts on Monday, July 22.

This has become necessary due to the recent surge in petroleum product and spare parts prices coupled with economic hardship.

Concern Drivers Association in a statement indicates that “some oil marketing companies (OMC’s) have begun upwardly adjusting their prices at the pumps following the commencement of July’s second pricing window, which left them with no choice to adjust the transport fares.

In an interview with Ohene Kinnah the host of Plan B Fm’s ‘Ebaanosen’ show, the National Chairman of Concern Drivers Association, Paa Willie said that they are going to increase the transport fares.

“I am promising Ghanaians a 15% increase in transit cost. The erratic hikes in fuel costs to the mishandling of the Cedi’s value with respect to the US dollar. Watch out for 15% increment in transport fares form Monday, July 22” he asserted.
