A misunderstanding between a couple, well-advanced in age, ended bloody at Kyenkyenase, a farming community in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region.

Nyamba Ayenliwuli, 64 years, allegedly picked a pestle and clubbed her husband, Aponwuni Ayenliwuli, 100 years, in the course of the quarrel and led the latter in a state of unconsciousness.

He later died on arrival at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital, and his body had since been deposited at the Hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Frank Asante, the Dormaa East District Police Commander confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in a telephone interview, saying the incident happened around 0900 hours that fateful day, Wednesday, July 14.

He said the Police received a distress call and rushed to the community, where the suspect was arrested, saying she had since been placed in Police custody to be arraigned before Court for trial on Monday, July 28.

DSP Asante added the Police was still investigating the matter, but the GNA gathered the community had been thrown into a state of shock and disbelief, as residents could not understand what exactly caused the woman to kill her husband.
