A devastating accident occurred at the Dr. Mensah Market in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, when a commercial urban bus ran over dozens of traders, leaving four persons in critical condition.

The injured traders are currently battling for their lives at the Manhyia Government Hospital after sustaining severe injuries in the gory accident.

According to OTEC News Reporter Elizabeth Gyamfua Fosu, who visited the scene, the urban bus with registration number GW-1502-09 experienced brake failure and crashed into the women trading on pavements at the market.

Some traders suspect that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, which may have contributed to the accident.

The police have arrested the driver involved for further investigations.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
