Aside the fact that the matters involving the botched Sputnik V vaccines contract are simply indefensible, and any person, be it government communicators, ministers or members of Parliament, sound ridiculous, Hon. Afenyo Markins moved with some level of foolhardy to the studios of Joy Fm to talk and defend the minister at the centre of the controversy.
As if the issues by themselves are not damning enough, the Efutu MP got caught up in the midst of three antagonizing panelists who are calling for sanctions for the minister of Health. Martin Kpebu, Kofi Bentil and Sammy Gyamfi, together with the already bad case of Kweku Agyemang Manu were the forces Afenyo Markins had to contend with.
In his usual fashion, he avoided all the direct questions posed by the Host and raised by other panelists and took a Mary-go-round trip on the issue just to set up his own questions and answer them.
Martin Kpebu cited the fact that, Kweku Agyemang Manu lied to the parliamentary ad hoc committee on the termination of the contract with the sheikh. Martin asserted that, it was Ghana that terminated the contract. In his explanations, Afenyo Markins read and mixed up several documents and came to an empty conclusion, leaving the viewers with nothing to comprehend.
Earlier, Kofi Bentil had reiterated the fact that the Health minister should have been sacked by now. This, the defender-in-chief said there are no basis. Alluding to the fact that, there is no financial lost to the state and the amount for non supplied quantity of paid vaccines have been refunded.
