I feel like eating palm nut soup today, Beatrice Serwaa, 29, said as she sat with Anarfi Patricia at the forefront of their four quartered compound house at Ahenema Kokoben in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. Beatrice with the taste of palm nut soup was invited by taste to have some this afternoon as she went back to her room and brought out GH¢27 to purchase the ingredients for the food.
Well, let me add something to it so we can all enjoy the food together, Portia, the palm nut soup admirer said in seconding to Beatrice’s idea of cooking palm nut soup. Portia isn’t just a lover of palm nut soup, but a person who can eat the food for twenty-four hours seven days a week. Give Portia palm nut soup and she won’t eat any food until the soup is finished, her brother Harry Anarfi said.
Portia Anarfi added her twenty cedis to the twenty-seven cedis Beatrice Serwaa had contributed for the food, and both women went to the market and made their purchasing of everything before going home to prepare the food together. Ahenema Kokoben Wayoma Market women confirmed to the police that, they saw the two women laughing in the market this morning as they went along buying their ingredients.
Beatrice and Portia prepared the food together, and Portia alerted Beatrice that, she was sweating and couldn’t enjoy the food with sweats so she went to the bathroom to refreshen up. Beatrice use the time Portia spent in the bathroom and poisoned the rest of the soup after eating hers while the Portia was in the shower.
I can’t wait for you, I’m angry, I’m eating my own, Beatrice said to Portia in the bathroom before taking her food and poisoning the rest. Portia after bathing asked Beatrice to serve her and it was there Beatrice gave her the remaining poisoned soup. Portia collapsed twelve minutes after eating the food and was rushed to the hospital but she couldn’t make it and died around four in the evening.
Doctors at St. Augustine’s Hospital in Kokoben called for the police when they sensed the woman Portia Anarfi had been poisoned. Beatrice was arrested at the hospital before she was taken to the Ahenema Kokoben police station.
Beatrice has confirmed to poisoning Portia because she was alleged to have been having secret affair with her husband. Though it hasn’t been confirmed whether Portia and Beatrice’s husband were having something, but Beatrice Serwaa has taken the life of her neighbour because of rumours.
Beatrice has further confirmed that, she used the palm nut soup because Portia loves it and couldn’t resist it. Beatrice is still at the Ahenema Kokoben police cells hoping to face court on Monday.
