Ghana’s has suffered a terrible start to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers after losing 1-0 to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with the pitch in an even more poor state than the Black Stars’ qualification commencement.
The Black Stars lost after conceding a late goal scored by Milson in the 92nd minute after the Angola striker took advantage of a poor clearance by defender Abdul Mumin to sweep the ball home deep inside the penalty box.
Losing to Angola end’s Ghana’s brilliant streak at the Baba Yara Stadium where the Black Stars hadn’t lost a game since dropping a tie to South Africa in 2000.
Ghana generally struggled to create clear cut scoring chances and managed to register a few shot on target from long range strikes from the likes of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Prior to conceding the late goal, Ghana carved out a decent chance when Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo combined brilliantly on the left side for Semenyo to set up Kudus whose shot with his right foot was weak and hit an Angolan player for a corner kick.
In a related development, Sudan beat Niger 1-0 in the other Group F game; Ghana take on Niger in Morocco on Monday, September 9.
