Ghana’s Black Queens breezed past Benin by three goals to zero in the first leg of the second round in the2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers at the Stade l’Amitie in Cotonou.

Spartak Subotica forward Doris Boaduwaa put the Queens ahead from the penalty spot in the 45thminute following a foul on Gifty Assifuah in the box.

The Queens proved to be the dominant force in the first half, mounting enormous pressure on the Benin national team, with the home side failing to hold the Black Queens.

In the 73rd minute, Gifty Assifuah capitalized on a defensive error to give the Black Queens the second goal in Cotonou.

Assifuah later doubled her lead in the 78th minute, giving the Black Queens the needed cushion heading into the second leg of the qualifiers.

The Black Queens will take on Benin in the second leg on Tuesday, 31st October at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Nora Hauptle’s side is now the favourites to progress to the third round and will face the Copper Queens of Zambia.

The latest results against Benin means it is 8 consecutive wins from 8 games for Head Coach Nora Häuptle.
