2 Siblings Arrested For Disrupting Court Proceedings

14-Year Old Boy Sentenced For Stealing A Van In Ashaiman

The Ashaiman Police have arrested two siblings for disrupting court proceedings at the Ashiaman District Court.

The two, Safianu Osumanu and Aishatu Osuman, accompanied their mother, Hamdiya Inusah, who has a case at the court.

The court heard that Hamdiya Inusah, a landlady rented a room to a tenant at a cost of GHS2,400 for several years.

The prosecution said the tenant vacated the room before the expiration of the tenancy agreement following a misunderstanding between them and demanded a refund of the money paid.

Inusah paid GHS 400 out of the money after the tenant reported the case to the Rent Control Department.

The prosecutor said the case was subsequently put before the court after she refused to refund the remaining money.

While the presiding judge was giving his verdict on their mother’s case, Safianu Osumanu stood up and started shouting in the courtroom.

The police officer attached to the court tried to usher him out but he resisted temporarily.

Together with his sister, they pushed and held the uniform of Inspector Tetteh Nartey, the prosecutor, hurled insults at him, and alleged that he had taken a bribe from the complainant in their mother’s case.

They were, however, arrested, handcuffed, and sent to the Ashiaman Divisional Police Headquarters after court proceedings.

The siblings are currently in police custody pending further investigations.
