: 11 new mining licenses issued while Akufo-Addo was meeting Organised Labour to rescind ban calls

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa the North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) has revealed that 11 new mining licenses were issued while President Akufo-Addo was meeting with the Organized Labour. 

In a closed-door meeting held on Thursday October 3 with union leaders’ sources revealed that President Akufo-Addo requested for the postponement of the nationwide strike action begging for additional time to work on their demands of addressing the menace of illegal mining (galamsey).

However, Speaking on TV3 Key point on 5 October 2024 Hon Ablakwa has revealed a very shocking development saying, “ let me reveal to you this morning, to my shock and I am sure many Ghanaians will be shock particularly Organised Labour, to my shock whiles the President was meeting Organised Labour, that same day will you believe that new licenses were being issued for this companies to start mining that same day on the 3rd of October”.

“Two days ago, 11 new licenses were issued to companies shocking this data is available on the Ghana mining repository”. MP Ablakwa disclosed.

Hon. Ablakwa further went on listing the 11 companies who received the new licenses and criticized government coldness at the time Ghanaians are calling for an end to illegal mining.
