Demolition of temporary structures has begun today in Shama as part of the Governmentโs Big Push Project aimed at dualizing the TakoradiโCape Coast road. The exercise is intended to clear the right-of-way to allow for smooth and timely construction of the dual carriageway, a key infrastructure initiative expected to transform transportation along the coastal corridor.
The demolition, being carried out by relevant state agencies in collaboration with the Shama District Assembly and security services, follows prior notices and engagements with affected occupants. Officials have emphasized that the process is being conducted in an orderly manner to ensure safety and minimize inconvenience to residents and traders.
When completed, the TakoradiโCape Coast dualization is expected to significantly reduce travel time, improve road safety, and ease traffic congestion. The project is also anticipated to boost economic activities, facilitate trade, and enhance access to social services for communities along the route.
Residents have been encouraged to cooperate with authorities as work progresses to ensure the successful and timely delivery of the project.
